Strand Beach, Cape Town, South Africa

Strand Beach, Cape Town, South Africa

This photo (taken by my 12 year old sister), like a lot of things in life, reminds me of God and his incredible power. Anyone who’s ever been caught in merciless waves or a strong current, know’s what true power is. Once in Durban, some friends and I were caught in some waves we couldn’t get out of. For about 20 minutes, wave after wave crashed over sent, hurtled us towards the beach and then sucked us back into the ocean. It was a rather surreal moment, this idea of being caught up in something that half an hour ago seemed so appealing.

Life is like that sometimes. We get caught up in the drama of things, allowing waves of anger, sin or depression to crash over our lives. How beautiful then that in our weakness, His power is made perfect.

Job 9:4
He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength. Who has hardened himself against Him, and succeeded?

John Piper once wrote “It is about the greatness of God, not the significance of man. God made man small and the universe big to say something about Himself.”
